During the weeks the workshops, excersises and excursions will be linked to one central bussines case where possible, bringing the theory closer to practice. |

Merwede Shipyard was granted this order to be built under yard No 713, because of the successful and cost effective cooperation it has with Subsea 7 on two earlier orders for a Rigid Reeled Pipe Layer and a Flexible Pipe Layer, as well as for its ability to design and offer a fixed price for the vessel fully complying with the owner’s requirements including the integration of the complete dive spread, well treatment system and cranes within the required short delivery time and budget constraints of the customer. |

Elsewhere in the world, genuine fear of environmental effects, for instance the effect of apparent rises in sea level when dredging takes place close inshore, makes governments apprehensive about large scale sand winning near their shores. | March 2005 Press release: Grab Hopper Dredger DIYA-KOWULLA back into the waterOn Saturday 12 March 2005 the DIYA-KOWULLA was lifted back into the water. One day earlier, on Friday 11 March, she was lifted from the quay by means of a heavy lift crane ship. The DIYA-KOWULLA stranded on the quay during the tsunami on 26 December 2004. | March 2005 Press release: Grab Hopper Dredger DIYA-KOWULLA lifted from the quayOn Friday 11 March 2005, the grab hopper dredger DIYA-KOWULLA was lifted from the quay. She is now on board of the crane ship which performed the operation. Tomorrow the dredger will be lifted back into the water. The DIYA-KOWULLA was stranded on the quay of the port of Galle (120km South of Colombo) during the tsunami on 26 December 2004.
